2008: Named to All-Ping! Freshman Team after leading VMI with a .348 batting average, 14 doubles, a .431 on-base percentage and 28 walks…also threw out seven base runners from right field, including three at the plate…played in 50 games, starting 49…also ranked second on the team with 12 steals in 14 attempts…was sixth in the Big South in stolen bases and seventh in both batting average and on-base percentage…reached base safely in 37 of the final 41 games…tied school record for hits in a game by going 6 for 7 in game one against Maryland-Eastern Shore (5/9)…in the game, had five singles, a double, four runs scored and three RBIs… on the weekend vs. UMES, went 11 for 17 (.647) with seven RBIs and two stolen bases…had a season-best ten-game hitting streak, during which he went 15-for-40 (.375) with five doubles, seven RBIs and a .468 OBP… also had a six-game hitting streak that saw him hit .613 (19-for-31) with nine RBIs, six runs scored, three doubles, a triple, a .636 on-base percentage and a .774 slugging percentage…went 3 for 8 with two runs scored and a double in VMI's 16-inning win at Liberty (4/19) after going 3-for-7 with a double in VMI's 16-inning win over Radford (4/7)…threw out the tying run at home plate in the ninth inning after scoring what proved to be the winning run in the eighth in a 9-8 win over W&M (3/25)…had hits in each of the first three games at Auburn, including his first career hit, an infield single in game one (3/6), and his first career double in game two (3/7)…also saw action on the mound in three games late in the season, not allowing a hit in 2.2 innings…scored his first career win by retiring both batters that he faced, striking out one against Charleston Southern (5/18) in his first conference appearance on the mound…made his first collegiate appearance on the mound in working a scoreless ninth against Coppin State (4/23), walking one and striking out one.

High School/Personal: Earned First Team All-Central District honors as both a shortstop and at the utility position as a senior...two-time First-Team All-Metro, All-Region and All-Tri Cities selection…hit .548 with 20 RBIs as a senior while going 3-3 with 31 strikeouts and a 1.70 ERA…had a career 23-5 record on the mound while also hitting above .400 each season at Prince George, where he played for his father, Mickey Roberts…as a sophomore, hit .491 with 23 RBIs and totaled a 9-0 record with a 2.51 ERA, while as a junior, went 5-2 with a 1.22 ERA while also hitting four home runs and driving in 18 RBIs…Honorable Mention AAA All-State as a junior and First Team AAA All-State as a sophomore as a utility player...son of Mickey and Anne Roberts…father, Mickey, played baseball at Longwood…participated in the 2006 Perfect Game National Showcase, as a member of the Richmond Braves National Baseball Club during the summer of 2006…majoring in psychology.
