Jeremy Brown's Career Stats

2013: Made just eight appearances, seven starts, in his final collegiate season due to head injury suffered in April 7 start against VCU...finished with a 3-1 record and a 3.26 ERA...spun a gem against Binghamton March 3, scattering six hits over six strong innings and allowing just one run...beat Radford with a career-high nine strikeout effort March 16...did not allow an earned run in 6 1/3 innings against Longwood...allowed just two runs over seven frames against Coastal...made his mark on the career record books, finishing 10th in ERA (4.77) and strikeouts per nine innings (7.56), fifth in fewest walks per nine innings (2.62) and third in games started (tied-42).  

2012: Moved into the Friday role April 13 at Coastal, and was VMI's best starting pitcher over the final six weeks of the year…went 1-2 with a 4.02 ERA in that time, striking out 29 and walking just five…struck out eight in hard-luck loss to Coastal, where two unearned runs cost him the game...went on to fan career-high nine against GWU two weeks later, only to see Gardner-Webb rally in the ninth and win in 10…earned his first win May 11 against Charleston Southern...earlier in the year, had pitched five innings of one-run ball against Youngstown State (3/11)...allowed three runs in 5 1/3 against High Point (4/1)...did not give up an earned run, but was victim of four unearned in no-decision against Lafayette (2/26).

2011: Finished the year 5-3 with a 4.33 ERA in 14 appearances (13 starts)…was a part of three shutouts, the most for a Keydet hurler since 2007…ranked eighth in program history in single-season fewest walks per nine innings…started off the year on a tear, as his ERA was 0.90 after his first four appearances…worked six shutout innings in a 2-0 win over Binghamton (Feb. 26)…threw six shutout innings again versus New Mexico State (March 12), in a 5-0 VMI win…in his other two early season starts, surrendered just one run apiece…also gave up just one run over five frames March 20 at Winthrop…scattered seven hits over six frames at Presbyterian March 27, but took a hard-luck no decision…rebounded from a three-start rough patch in early April with six innings of one-run ball April 17 at Charleston Southern, where he grabbed his third win…beat UNC Asheville May 14 by working six innings, surrendering four hits and striking out seven…worked five shutout innings against High Point in the season's penultimate game, accounting for his third combined shutout of the year.

2010: Had 17 outings on the year, including four starts…ERA sat at 5.85 for the season…was the starting pitcher in VMI's win over then-#1 Virginia (4/14), working out of a first-inning jam to leave with a 3-2 lead…worked 3.1 innings in that game, allowing the two runs…tossed a scoreless inning of relief against #4 Coastal Carolina at the Big South Championship (5/26), striking out one…made his first start of the season against Longwood, throwing 3.1 scoreless innings and scattering five hits to earn the win (predetermined start)…was the victor in VMI's opening day 9-4 win over Bucknell, allowing two runs in 3.1 innings of relief…struck out better than a batter per inning, posting 34 K's in 32.1 frames.

2009: Made eight appearances, including five starts before missing the final two months of the season due to injury…struck out a season-high seven, allowing only two runs, one earned, in his first career start at Richmond (2/25), working four innings…allowed only one hit in three shutout relief innings against William & Mary (3/4)…pitched two innings in a start against #18 Virginia, allowing two runs on two hits…allowed three runs on three hits in three innings at Virginia Tech (3/18)…in his first conference start, allowed five runs, only two earned, in five innings against UNC Asheville (3/22)…in that start, struck out six.

High School/Personal: Three-year letterman at Culpeper…three-year starter as a pitcher and outfielder…named All-District as a pitcher and as an outfielder...son of Neil Brown and Betty Tortorelli…hit .457 with five home runs and 33 RBIs while playing for American Legion Post 156…majoring in economics & business.
