Chase Worthington's Career Stats

2012: Hit .194 in 41 games (27 starts) as a part-time starter at third base...had an RBI double in series finale against South Carolina...hit .500 in Hartford series (5 for 10) with four RBI.

2011: Hit .211 in 51 games…was VMI's regular starter at third base…went 2 for 3 with a home run in home opener against William & Mary (2/22)…had an RBI single at #10 Virginia the next day…went 2 for 3 with three runs batted in series finale against Binghamton (2/27)…had three hits in four trips against New Mexico State (3/11), and also scored twice and had his lone triple of the season…broke out of a 2 for 24 slump by going 2 for 3 with two runs scored at Longwood (3/22), and also connected for his second home run…tied school record with three sacrifice bunts at Radford (4/8)…was 7 for 13 in Charleston Southern series (4/15-17), including three doubles and five runs scored…raised his average 39 points with that effort…homered May 14 against UNC Asheville…was 2 for 4 May 20 versus High Point…played summer ball for the Valley League's Waynesboro Generals…serves as the VP for Education and Defense on the VMI Honor Court.

2010: After moving into the starting lineup, where he stayed for the season's final 20 games, Worthington hit .348 with five doubles…also had a home run and seven RBI's during that time…had a career-best 12-game hitting streak late in the season…hit .366 during that run…was 4 for 6 with two doubles and three runs scored against UMES (3/6)…had a home run in game three against Bucknell…hit .340 in conference action.

2009:
Saw action in 10 contests as a freshman, making one start…played each of the infield positions…went 2 for 2 in his first collegiate contest, at #1 North Carolina (2/22)…had a pinch-hit single at #23 Coastal Carolina (5/9).

High School/Personal: Four-year letterman at Atlee as a shortstop and pitcher…three times named All-District…Hit .413 with five home runs and 33 RBIs as a senior…named team MVP…earned Honorable Mention All-Region as a shortstop…also a two-year letterman on the basketball team…an All-Academic selection and an Honorable Mention All-District player...son of Jay Worthington and Penny Weis…mother played tennis at Longwood…played for the Richmond Braves National Showcase team and for the Tidewater Drillers…won four state AAU Championships…named to the 12U National All-Tournament Team…attended Perfect Game tournaments and a Team One Showcase..ranks as a Battalion Corporal in the VMI Corps of Cadets…majoring in psychology.
