2008: Enjoyed a breakout season as a redshirt sophomore...Hit .320 with eight doubles, seven home runs and 39 RBIs while starting 46 games, with a majority of those coming in left field...Did most of his damage in Big South play, leading VMI with a .374 batting average, 34 hits, 18 RBIs, five home runs and a .582 slugging percentage...Ranked fourth in the Big South in league games in hits, seventh in total bases and ninth in batting average...Had a career-best 14-game hitting streak, during which he hit .412 (28-for-68) with four doubles, two home runs, 14 RBIs...Drove home the tying run in the ninth inning and scored the winning run in the 16th in VMI's 6-5, 16-inning win at Liberty (4/19)...Earned Big South Player of the Week honors on April 7, posting three multiple-hit games as VMI went 4-0 on the week, hitting .417 with eight RBIs...Set a new school record for at bats by going 4-for-8 in VMI's 16-inning, 3-2 win over Radford (4/7)...Also matched a school record with three doubles in that game...Hit a three-run, walk-off home run to give VMI a 4-3, 11-inning victory in game one against Radford (4/6)...Went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored in a 9-5 win over Richmond (4/1)...Posted his second four-hit game in a week by going 4-for-5 with two singles, a double and a home run, driving in three in a game three win over UNCA (4/13)...Tied the contest with a single in the fourth inning before giving the Keydets the lead with a solo home run in a 5-4 win against Winthrop (3/29)...Hit his first career grand slam and first for VMI in 2008 in the third inning against William & Mary (3/25)...In the doubleheader against High Point (3/22), went 5-for-8 with two RBI and a home run.

A key contributor to the team down the stretch, leading all freshmen with a .293 average and 17 RBI while seeing action in 37 contests...In limited action, posted the third-highest slugging percentage on the team, and the highest among 2008 returners...Came up with a pinch-hit double in the 9th inning against Coastal Carolina in the Big South Championship (5/24)...Hit his third career HR to extend the lead in a 5-3 win over UNCA in game three (4/29), going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and nine putouts in CF...Hit his second home run of the season in game one against #20 Coastal (4/20), also collecting a double in the 7-5 loss...Saw his six-game hitting streak end in game two against High Point; during the run, he hit 10-for-22 (.455) with eight RBI, two 2B, 3B, and a HR...Collected RBI singles against #3 Virginia (4/3) and Virginia Tech (4/4), breaking up a no-hitter in the fifth inning against the Hokies...In first three career starts, went 7-for-11 with five RBI against Savannah State, hitting .636, slugging 1.273 and reaching base at .692...Went 4-for-5 with three RBI, a double and a triple in game two against SSU (3/31), then went 2-for-4 with first career HR in game three (4/1)...Had an RBI double to deep centerfield in eighth inning of game one at Auburn (3/13) after entering game two innings earlier as a pinch runner...Entered game two against UMES (3/10) in seventh inning and collected first career hit, an RBI double to deep centerfield.

High School: Four-year letterwinner in the outfield at Rockbridge County...Hit .434 with 12 home runs and 45 RBI...Named first team All-District as a utility player and second team All-District as an outfielder...Named to the All-Timesland team as a senior...Played under head coach Paige Owens...Also lettered four years at linebacker on the Rockbridge County football team...Named second team All-District with 109 tackles and an interception...
