Andrew Montague's Career Stats

2013: Shifted full-time to the mound in his final collegiate season...led the Big South in appearances for much of the year (ranked tied for fourth after the conference tournament), and his 29 outings tied for the second-most in VMI history...finished the year 0-1 with a 5.32 ERA...did not allow an earned run from Feb. 23 until March 30...picked up his first career save April 2 against James Madison...also saved an April 9 win against William & Mary.

2012: Saw time both as backup catcher and extra arm out of the bullpen...appeared in 22 games overall...hit .143 in 49 at-bats, including a home run, and posted a 6.75 ERA in five games on the mound...went 2 for 4 with a RBI single against William & Mary March 6...started all three games against Youngstown State, homering in the series opener March 9...on the mound, went 1 2/3 scoreless innings against Lafayette 2/25...gave up just an earned run to William & Mary March 6.
     Summer: Saw action in 15 games behind the plate and six on the mound for the Peninsula Pilots (CPL)...hit .250 with four RBI...posted a 1-0 record on the mound, allowing four earned runs over six innings.

2011: Hit .234 during the 2011 campaign, serving primarily as VMI's backup catcher…saw action in 25 games overall…got the start in season opener at Florida State (2/18)…had an RBI in second game of Bucknell twinbill (3/5)…went 2 for 3 at Charleston Southern April 16…had two hits in second game of Liberty doubleheader (4/23)…went 1 for 3 in season finale against High Point.
    Summer: Played summer ball for the Rockbridge Rapids, a Valley League team based in Lexington, and hit .225 in 30 games…also pitched for Rockbridge, including the final four innings of the League semifinals to pitch the Rapids into their first League Championship Series.

2010: Hit .389 in 20 games (36 AB)…hit his first career home run in the opener against PC (5/20)…made two starts in the Big South Championship, hitting .375 with a double and three RBI's…had a pinch-hit double against Winthrop (5/27)…made his first start of the season against Winthrop (5/16)…had a single in the ninth inning against VCU (4/28)…went 2 for 3 with a double and a run scored against JMU (3/24)…nailed a pinch-hit, RBI double in game two against La Salle (3/13), starting VMI's comeback for an eventual walk-off win…had a pinch-hit single in game one against UMES (3/5) before going 3 for 6 with a double, two RBI's and three runs scored in game two…hit safely in 11 of the 16 games in which he recorded a plate appearance.

High School/Personal: Three-year letterman under head coach Billy Kline at Churchland…as a junior, hit .431 with 31 RBIs and was named First Team All-District and Second Team All-Region…also earned All-Tidewater recognition…as a senior, hit .407 with 27 RBIs…also lettered while playing volleyball and was named Team MVP…earned a Scholar-Athlete Award from the U.S. Army Reserves...son of Leo Montague and Aimi Estacion…played for American Legion Posts 310 and 327…majoring in psychology.
