LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI baseball team looks to extend its three-game winning streak Tuesday as the Keydets travel to James Madison University for a non-conference test at 3 p.m.   

VMI swept Lafayette College this past weekend, 8-1, 13-7, 13-3, hitting .365 for the series with 38 hits and 22 walks. The Keydets had a .473 on-base and .606 slugging percentages in the successful series against the visiting Leopards.

Red-shirt sophomore Tyler Bradt was named the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday, his second-straight week taking home the award. Bradt worked seven strong innings against Lafayette Friday, allowing just four hits, no earned runs and two walks with six strikeouts to pick up his second win of the season.

Red-shirt sophomore shortstop Zac Morris had eight hits in the Lafayette series, four for extra bases, with a .688 on base percentage. He fell just a single short of hitting for the cycle in the Sunday game.

Red-shirt sophomore Justin Starke also had an impressive weekend with the bat, hitting .462 with two home runs and seven RBI. He boasted a .533 on base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage.

James Madison and VMI met three times last season in a four-day span in mid-March, with the Dukes winning two of the contests. Trey Morgan blasted two homers in VMI's 17-7 victory over JMU March 13 in Lexington. Morris was 4-5 on the day with a home run, four runs and two RBI and Ty Swaim also was 4-5 and had a double, three stolen bases, three runs and three RBI. Will Knight set a single-game school record with five walks on the afternoon and hit a three-run home run in his other at bat.
