After going 20-35 last season, VMI baseball readies for 2014 with five positional starters returning from the 2013 campaign, including team leaders Matt Winn and Jordan Tarsovich.
The Keydets are expected to have four redshirt juniors, but no seniors, in their starting lineup to complement a pitching staff that lost just two regular performers from the 2013 campaign. The hurlers that return include senior Connor Bach, who ranked eighth in the Big South in ERA, and redshirt seniors Travis Thomas and Miles McQuaig, expected to anchor the bullpen.
VMI Baseball opens the season on the road at the UNC Wilmington Tournament and will face the host school, along with traditional baseball powers #1 Virginia and Kentucky. Along with a full slate of Big South games, the Keydets will play familiar in-state foes JMU, VCU, Old Dominion and Richmond throughout the year.
