LEXINGTON, Va. - The men's soccer and women's rifle programs are the winners of the 2016-17 Don Jamison Team Academic Achievement Awards, announced recently by the office of Cadet-Athlete Development. The men's soccer program becomes the first two-time winner of the award, as that squad also won the first Jamison Award for the 2014-15 year.

The Colonel Don Jamison Team Academic Achievement Award recognizes a men's team and a women's team who have distinguished themselves by their superior academic achievement. The award is earned by which team's cadet-athletes have accumulated the greatest number of individual academic honors from the VMI Athletic Academic Honors Program relative to the size of its membership. The award is presented to the winning team at the conclusion of the academic year. The winning team is honored with a plaque, and recognition on the academic honors webpage of the VMI Athletics Website and the academic honors board in the Cadet-Athlete Development Office in Carroll Hall.
