LEXINGTON, Va. – Looking to clinch the final qualifying spot for the MAAC Tournament at the end of the month, the VMI water polo team (18-9, 6-5 MAAC) faces three crucial matches this weekend in Philadelphia.

Date: Saturday and Sunday, April 14-15
Location: Philadelphia, Pa. (Saturday hosted by Villanova; Sunday hosted by La Salle)

The Keydets take on Siena on Saturday at noon at Villanova before facing No. 24 Marist in the nightcap at 7:30 p.m.. In what is shaping out to be a play-in match to qualify for the MAAC Tournament, VMI will conclude the weekend Sunday with a 12 p.m. game against Villanova hosted by nearby La Salle.

VMI is led by senior center Shelby Barkley, who has scored 92 goals on the season, one shy of the program’s single season record.

The Keydets defeated Siena (7-19, 4-7 MAAC) by an 11-4 score back on March 25 and look to repeat the endeavor Saturday afternoon.

VMI looks to avenge a loss to Marist (17-15, 10-1 MAAC) as the Keydets fell to the Red Foxes by a 12-8 tally on March 24 just before the Spring Furlough trip to California.

The Keydets also seek revenge against Villanova (7-14, 5-5 MAAC), which claimed a come-from-behind 10-9 victory over the Keydets a few hours after the loss to Marist on March 24.
