EDISON, N.J. – Playing a crucial role in helping VMI to a 3-1 record last weekend in Poughkeepsie, New York, VMI water polo sophomore goalie Isabel French was named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
The Naperville, Illinois, native registered 57 saves over four matches for the weekend in addition to a 60 percent save percentage and three steals. In the final match Sunday night against St. Francis Brooklyn, French tallied 20 saves, the second most for a single match in her career and third most in program history.
