LOS ANGELES - Finishing its annual west coast trip on a high note, the VMI water polo team registered a dominating 23-14 victory over host Occidental College Thursday evening in Los Angeles.

Junior Shelby Barkley led the way for VMI (11-3) with five goals while Haley Scott put in four and Cecilya Lundy, Bailey Huddleston and Sarah Dolitsky each recording three.

Nearly the entire roster contributed a goal as Sophia DelBondio, Emma Noble, Emma Perez, Natalie Rivas and Rebecca Serrano each tallied a score.

Freshman goalie Isabel French, just named the MAAC Rookie of the Week, logged 10 saves in the first half to earn the win while allowing just four goals. Junior Catie Berry replaced her in the second half and had three saves on 10 goals allowed.

The Keydets have little time to rest as they return to the east coast en route to Philadelphia, where they will face host MAAC newcomer La Salle Saturday at noon followed by Siena at 4 p.m.
