EDISON, N.J. - Following stellar performances last weekend at the George Washington Invitational, VMI freshman goalkeeper Isabel French was named this week's MAAC Rookie of the Week.

French helped the Keydets to a 3-1 record at the tournament, picking up wins against Mercyhurst, Gannon, and Saint Francis (Pa.). The Naperville, Illinois, native logged 36 saves and three steals over the four matches.

Her 11 saves against Mercyhurst were the third most in a match this season, and she also had 10 saves in the matches versus George Washington and Saint Francis.

French also registered a 48 percent save percentage average for the four matches. This is Isabel’s first career Rookie of the Week designation and first time the Keydets have been honored this season.

Wagner's Kimberly Watson was named the Offensive Player of the Week while teammate Emily Wagner was named the Defensive Player of the Week.
