SPARTANBURG, S.C. - VMI's Amy Horney was named Second Team All-Southern Conference, as the league announced its postseason awards Tuesday afternoon. Horney becomes the first VMI player since 2011 to earn all-conference recognition, and the first to do so since the Keydets joined the SoCon prior to the 2014 season.
This season, Horney started 18 of VMI's 19 contests and scored a pair of goals, both game-winners. She notched the decisive goal against The Citadel Oct. 20 and also against ETSU Oct. 1, in VMI's first-ever win over the Bucs. Horney was also part of a defense that posted five shutouts and she set new VMI records for career games played (78) and started (78) during her final season on Post.
Horney is the first VMI player to earn all-conference honors since Sarah Strand was named Second Team All-Big South following the 2011 season.
