VMI baseball will return to action Friday, when the Keydets open a three-game series against UMass Lowell at Gray-Minor Stadium. First pitch is set for 3 p.m., while games Saturday (2 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.) will follow.
How to Follow
Fans can follow along with the action via live stats, as well as periodic updates on the @VMIbaseco Twitter page. If there are any schedule changes due to weather, they will be posted on the Twitter page first.
Probable Starting Pitchers

UML RHP Andrew Ryan vs. VMI RHP Zak Kent
UML RHP Collin Duffley vs. VMI LHP Kyle Staats
Matt Pita headlined VMI's efforts over the last week, going 11 for 20 (.550) with three homers - Pita earned SoCon Player of the Week and National Player of the Week (Collegiate Baseball) honors for his efforts.
Pita's SoCon Player of the Week honor marked VMI's second straight, the first time since 2006 (in the Big South) that VMI had earned back to conference POTW awards.
The Keydets have scored in the first inning in all seven of their victories, but have actually allowed the same number of runs as they've scored in the first (17). When Keydet hurlers get settled in, however, the difference is startling. VMI has outscored the opposition 55-31 over the final six innings of the game so far this season.
The Keydets have scored eight or more runs in eight straight games, which is believed to be the longest such streak in modern VMI baseball history (dating to 1951).
Right-hander Zak Kent, who will start in the middle game of the series, struck out 11 Oakland Golden Grizzlies in his last outing. He was the first VMI pitcher - other than Josh Winder - to record a double-digit strikeout game since Reed Garrett in 2014.
Next Time Out
Following this set, the Keydets embark upon a four-game road trip, beginning Wednesday with a 6 p.m. first pitch at Old Dominion.
