Wrestling Heads to SoCon Championship

LEXINGTON, Va. – With NCAA tournament bids on the line, the VMI wrestling team heads to the Southern Conference Championship to be held Saturday at The Citadel’s McAlister Field House in Charleston, South Carolina.

The SoCon was allocated 12 spots for the NCAA Championships, with the 184- and 197-pound weight classes being awarded two each. The champion of the other eight weight divisions will qualify for the national tournament.

Freshman 125-pounder Clifton Conway, just named to the All-Freshman team by the league, enters the event as a No. 4 seed for his weight class after going 3-1 versus conference opponents during the year.

After a breakout season, junior 165-pounder Blake Hohman enters as a No. 5 seed and looks for a strong finish at the competition to nab a spot at the NCAA tournament.
