VMI track and field will return to action Friday, when the Keydets open competition at the IC4A/ECAC Championships, contested at the home facility of Boston University in Boston, Mass. Action in the ECAC heptathlon gets underway Friday at 3 p.m., while action the other two days begins at 9:30 a.m.

How to Follow

Fans can follow along with the action via live results at lancertiming.com.

How They Got Here

IC4A Qualifiers

Greg Henderson - 60 and 200-meter dashes

Henderson was the SoCon outdoor champion in both the 100 and 200 last season, and has brought that momentum into this indoor campaign as well. He has finished no lower than seventh in any sprint field this year, and has wins in the Citadel dual and at Marshall on his log. He was also the runner up in both of these events at Virginia Tech, where he set a lifetime best of 6.82 in the 60.

DMR - Luke Phillips, Kevin Bishop, Luke Lysher, Jay Broom

The DMR qualified at Marshall and will feature the four athletes above.

Grant Holmes - Pole Vault

Holmes narrowly missed the qualifying standard of 4.80 meters by clearing 4.75 meters at Virginia Tech, and he will be the coach's choice on the waiver of standard rule. Any school that qualifies one athlete in either a running or field event, but not in the other type of discipline, may enter an athlete in the non-qualified side on the "waiver of standard" rule.

ECAC Qualifiers

Julia Logan - Pentathlon

Like Holmes in the IC4A pole vault, Logan gets in here under a unique ECAC rule. The ECAC standard in the multis is to first take declared athletes that hit the standard, but often, the field is very small at that point, so the field is then filled out to 15 from there. Logan gets in on the strength of her school record effort at the SoCon Championships.

Yaa Agyepong-Wiafe - 60-meter hurdles

Agyepong-Wiafe also qualified in the 60-meter dash, setting seasonal bests in both at the SoCon meet this past week, but will not run in that event due to a time schedule conflict with the hurdles. In that event, she finished second at the conference championship and enters this meet ranked 18th in the ECAC.

Bria Anderson - 60-meter dash and long jump

Anderson, a previous qualifier to this meet in the long jump, has finished as high as ninth in that event at previous ECAC Championships. It will be her first appearance in the 60-meter dash.

Kerisha Goode - 60 and 200-meter dashes

Goode has enjoyed a banner season, resetting the school record in the 60 twice and also qualifying in the 200. Goode was fifth in the 60 and seventh in the 200 last weekend at the SoCon meet, and reversed those finishes earlier in the month at Marshall. It is the first time in her career that she has qualified to an ECAC meet in the 60.

Mia McClain - 60-meter dash

McClain is the fourth Keydet to qualify in the 60, and the third who will actually compete at the championships. She was the runner-up in the 60 at Virginia Tech and finished fifth at Marshall before recording a ninth-place finish at the SoCon Championships. It will be her second appearance at an ECAC meet, as she was part of a 4X1 team that qualified to the outdoor meet in 2015.

4X800-Meter Relay - Bethany King, Julianne Knoblett, Logan Luckett, Christina Hill

The women's 4X8 set a new school record at Virginia Tech, and with it, punched this foursome's ticket to Boston.

Next Time Out

Following this meet, the Keydets likely next compete at the opening of their outdoor season in Columbia, S.C. on March 24.
