LEXINGTON, Va. - The VMI track and field programs will host four home meets during the 2018 indoor season, according to information released Thursday afternoon. The four-meet slate includes the first indoor conference championship hosted by the Keydets since 2000.

The home meets open with the Keydet Invitational on Jan. 19 and 20. 21 teams are currently scheduled to compete, including 16 Division I schools. That list will include such schools as William & Mary, Charlotte, George Mason, as well as the distance runners from Virginia Tech and other outstanding programs.

The home schedule then moves to Jan. 27 and the VMI Team Challenge. The team challenge will see eight schools from multiple conferences divided into teams to compete, team against team, in a uniquely scored competition.

VMI hosts the Winter Relays on Feb. 9-10, a meet that will have the full slate of events. The competition currently has 13 Division I (and 20 total) teams slated to come to the Corps Physical Training Facility. The name of the meet harkens back to the former home of VMI track and field, Cormack Field House (aka "The Pit"), where the team hosted an annual relay meet by the same name for several decades.

Finally, the Keydets will host the SoCon Indoor Championships on Feb. 24 and 25. It is the first time since 2000 that the Keydets will host an indoor championship in Lexington, but is the 35th SoCon Championship to take place in VMI's home arena after 34 were held from 1954-2000 in Cormack Field House.

More information on these meets, and the remainder of the VMI track and field schedule, will be available in the coming days. All teams participating are subject to change.
