Keydet S&D Ends Long Layoff at UMBC Saturday

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are back in action Saturday at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County (UMBC) at 1 p.m. The Keydets last were in competition in late October.

“This meet will be a good opportunity to race hard and get some experience behind us to help better prepare for champs after a long break in our competition schedule,” said head coach Andrew Bretscher. “We get to swim against a team we will be competing with at the America East Championships towards the end of the season, so we will make the most of it.”

Last year, the Retrievers defeated the VMI men (146-116) and women (128-86) as part of a tri-meet with East Carolina on January 20. UMBC won the America East men’s swimming championship last year, while the women took second.
