NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. - Morgan Davis set a new school record in the 100 breaststroke, one of two records for the women's team, and the VMI men posted three finishes in the top-15 on the second day of the ECAC Championships, contested Saturday in New Brunswick, N.J.
In addition to Davis, the women's 200 medley relay finished 14th in a school record time of 1:53.41, as Davis teamed with Carisa Kunkle, Calle Biles and McKenzie Raber to reset the mark that had only stood for a week. Davis' time trial time in the 100 breast was 1:12.13 and it becomes her fifth individual school record.
On the men's side, the Keydets' top finish came in the 800 free relay, where John Kim, David Turbyfill, Thomas Muldowney and Jacob Smilie timed in at 7:09.69 for an 11th-place finish. Kim was 15th in the 100 back (51.14) and he teamed with three different swimmers - Bret Tomajczyk, Jake Boulter and Ryan Schmitz - to finish 12th in the 200 medley relay (1:36.43).
As a team, the Keydet women are in 20th and continue to outpace Colgate, Fordham and La Salle, while the VMI men sit 15th, ahead of such schools as Rider and St. Francis (N.Y.).
VMI swimming and diving wraps up its season Sunday at the final day of the ECAC meet, which gets underway at 10 a.m.
