LEXINGTON, Va. - The 2017-18 VMI swimming and diving schedule, which includes a trio of meets in the state of Virginia, was released by the program Friday afternoon.
The Keydets, coached by first-year head man Andrew Bretscher, will open at the Potomac Relays for the second consecutive year. American University will host the Keydets, Howard, Georgetown and George Mason on October 6.
One day later, VMI swims against Mount St. Mary's in a dual and then takes nearly two weeks off before Oct. 20's Virginia Tech Sprint Invitational in Christiansburg. North Carolina, Liberty (women only) and Queens will be the other schools at that event.
A quick dual with Howard follows on Nov. 4 on the road, before the Tribe of William & Mary comes to Clark King Pool on Nov. 11. The dual meet will begin at 11 a.m.
A midweek trip to Baltimore on Nov. 15 yields a meet with Loyola, and that event ends the 2017 portion of the schedule. The Keydets then swim a tri-meet on Jan. 20, 2018 against UMBC and East Carolina in Baltimore, before taking part in the Jan. 26-27 Liberty Duals in Lynchburg, Va.
The Keydets then wrap up their season with their first trip to the America East Championships, set for Feb. 15-18 in Worcester, Mass., and the ECAC Championships Feb. 23-25 in New Brunswick, N.J.
