Men’s Soccer at Campbell Wed. moved to 5 PM
LEXINGTON, VA – The VMI men’s soccer team will begin a five-game road trip Wednesday, heading to Campbell University for a non-conference game. The contest was originally scheduled for 7 p.m., but has been moved up to 5 p.m. due to impending adverse weather conditions in the area.

The Keydets (0-5) dropped a tightly-contested match with Niagara University Sunday 3-1. Senior midfielder Jonathan Martinez cut Niagara’s lead to 2-1 at the 53:16 mark of the second half with a strike from 35 yards out. VMI outshot the Blue Jays 16-14, but couldn’t convert several late opportunities (including 12 second half shots and five corner kicks).
VMI freshman goalie Broden Schull made five stops, and leads the Southern Conference so far this season with 34 saves and 6.8 saves per game.
About Campbell (3-2, 1-0 Big South)
The Camels are on a three-game winning streak, with victories over Belmont (5-2), USC-Upstate (7-1) and Davidson (1-0). Thibaut Jacquel leads the squad with two goals and three assists on the season, while Gideon Betz, Ian Rees and JJ Donnelly each have two goals and an assist. Bastien Oberli has contributed three assists and has also found the back of the net once.
Goalie Samuel Legucha is 3-1 this season in his four starts for the Camels, and has allowed just one goal in the last 180 minutes of play.
