Men's Soccer Adds Three to Incoming Class

LEXINGTON, Va. – After announcing 11 newcomers to his program a month ago, VMI men's soccer head coach Michael Bonelli announced Friday the addition of three more signees set to join the 2018 roster this fall.

Newly named to the squad are David Carlson (The Woodlands, Texas), Hamilton Lee (Corpus Christi, Texas) and Julian Ruffin of Wake Forest, North Carolina.

Below is a capsule of each incoming recruit:

High School: The Woodlands

Prepped at The Woodlands HS in The Woodlands, Texas … member of the Houston Dynamo Youth Academy … National Hispanic scholar … was also a member of the golf team.

Name: Hamilton Lee

Position: Outside Back

Home Town: Corpus Christi, Texas

Club Team: South Texas Futbol Club

High School: Incarnate Word Academy

Coached by Adam Ramos at Incarnate Word Academy in Corpus Christi, Texas … four-year letterwinner as a defender and forward … as a senior named the school’s Offensive MVP and was named as an All-District first team forward as well as academic all-state … as a junior named the school’s Defensive MVP and was named to the All-District first team defense, academic all-state and led team to the second round of state playoffs … named team captain as a sophomore and junior … also ran the 200-meter and 4x100 relay for the track team … played for the South Texas Futbol Club … as a freshman named to the Super 2 Select team … D1 Select Team as a sophomore … captain of the Premier Select team as a junior … member of the Premier Select team as a senior … AP Scholar and National Honor Society member.

Prepped at Heritage HS in Wake Forest, North Carolina … as a senior helped the team to a conference title and 4A state playoffs regional runner-up finish … team ranked No. 3 in the state … as a junior led team to the first round of the 4A state playoffs … named All-Academic as a sophomore and a Heritage Scholar-Athlete … played club soccer for CASL Classic and NCFC Classic Premier … earned multiple academic honors, including being named a National Achievers Society scholar, a Kappa Alpha Psi honor scholar and a member of the Men of Distinction, a community service and leadership club.
