LEXINGTON, Va. - VMI Athletic Communications asked men's soccer senior midfielder Campbell Wood how he got involved with the sport, his future plans and what are some of his interests outside of soccer.

Major: International Studies. History minor.

Plans after college: Commissioning as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps.

When did you start playing soccer and why? I've played for as long as I can remember. I just had more fun playing soccer than any other sport.

Why VMI? I wanted something different than a normal education. The disciplined military environment looked cool, and the friendships have been great.

Favorite VMI memory: The infamous bus ride back from Mercer. Also, just any time hanging out with the squad.

Who are some of the people who have played in a key role in helping you get to your final year at VMI? My Mom, Dad, and sister have all been a great support system and I'll never be able to repay them for all that they have done for me. Additionally, everyone involved with the soccer program has been a great help throughout the past three years by acting as an extension of my own family. I also couldn't have made it this far if it weren't for the great brothers I've acquired - you know who you are. If we've shared a laugh over the past three years, I thank you.

Goals for the upcoming season: Have fun with it and play like every game could be my last.

Favorite movie/book and why: My favorite movie is either Apocalypse Now or American Psycho. My favorite book is The Hunt for Red October. They are entertaining and intense.

When you have an hour of free time, you like to...: Play the guitar. Read about current events.

What sporting venue would you most like to visit? Patchin Field

When surfing the Internet, what web site do you visit most frequently? Marine Corps Times

Favorite sport to watch (other than soccer): Lacrosse

If you could eat dinner with three other people, living or not, who would they be and why? Lt. Gen. Lewis B. "Chesty" Puller because he's the embodiment of motivation, Ben Shapiro because he's incredibly smart, and Chris D'Elia because he's hilarious.
