Allen Finishes Among Top Keepers in Nation

LEXINGTON, Va. – After a strong season in the goalbox, VMI sophomore keeper Robert Allen finished among the best in the nation in several categories upon conclusion of the 2016 NCAA men’s soccer season.

The Boerne, Texas, native finished first in the nation in saves per game as he averaged seven a match through 14 games played. Splitting time with fellow VMI sophomore Rives Worsham, he logged 98 saves for the year, sixth most in the final NCAA rankings.

Allen logged over 1200 minutes in the box in 2016, allowing 54 goals for a 3.96 goals-against average. He also earned a .645 save percentage. He registered a season-best 15 saves in the regular season finale at UNCG on Oct. 29.
