LEXINGTON, Va. – Looking to close the 2019 season with a conference win, the VMI lacrosse team travels to Furman University to take on the Paladins in a Southern Conference battle Saturday at noon in Greenville, South Carolina.

The Keydets (4-8, 0-6) seek their first league win of the season after coming close on multiple occasions  during the year. Last week against Air Force, VMI trailed by just a 3-2 score at the half but couldn’t hang on in the second half as the Falcons escaped with a 12-5 victory over the Keydets.

Junior Johnny Daniel and sophomore Ryan Perouty continue to lead the team’s offensive attack and look to lead VMI to victory in the final bout of the season. Perouty is ranked No. 24 in the NCAA for consecutive games with at least one point as he now has 25 straight games with a point tally. Since Feb. 17, 2018, the sophomore has logged 52 goals and 21 assists for 73 total points over this span.

On the defensive side of the field, senior defender Kyle Walsh continues to rank first in the nation in caused turnovers per game as he averages 3.73 per game. He has caused 45 turnovers over 12 games. Eric Lane ranks No. 50 in this category as he averages 1.55 caused turnovers per match.
