LEXINGTON, Va. – Coming off a tough loss to No. 6 Virginia Tuesday night on the road, the VMI lacrosse team returns home to face Southern Conference opponent Air Force Saturday for Senior Day at noon at Drill Field No. 2.
Before the game seniors Timothy Barile, Brandon Crespo, Austin Hughes, Emory Lieber, Patrick McPartlin, John O’Donnell, Kyle Walsh and Derek Wilson will be honored for their contributions to the program over the past four years.
Overmatched against one of the nation’s top teams in UVA, the Keydets (4-7, 0-5) look to bounce back against a good opponent in Air Force, which is receiving votes for the USILA Top 25 poll.
One of VMI’s top scoring threats Johnny Daniel was held scoreless against the ranked Cavaliers as his 20-game scoring streak was snapped in Tuesday’s loss. The Fairfax, Virginia native was tied for No. 7 in the NCAA for consecutive games with a goal after logging 45 goals dating back to March 3, 2018.
Fellow attackman Ryan Perouty is ranked 25th in the NCAA for consecutive games with at least one point as he now has 24 straight games with a point tally. Since Feb. 17, 2018, the sophomore has logged 49 goals and 21 assists for 70 total points over this span.
Senior defender Kyle Walsh continues to rank first in the nation in caused turnovers per game as he averages 3.80 per game. He has caused 43 turnovers over 11 games. John Schmank and Eric Lane are both tied for the No. 34 spot in this category as they average 1.7 caused turnovers per match.
