SPARTANBURG, S.C. - 22 VMI athletes were named to the 2016-17 SoCon Fall Academic All-Conference Team, according to information released by the league Tuesday. 10 football players, four women's soccer players and four Keydets from the men's cross country joined a single women's cross country honoree and three men's soccer players in being recognized.

To be eligible for the academic all-conference team, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average at the conclusion of the fall semester and were required to compete in at least one-half of their teams’ competitions during the recently concluded campaign. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least three semesters at their institutions, making true freshmen and first-year transfers ineligible for inclusion.

There were 319 total honorees, with the league’s nine football teams leading the way with 88 academic all-conference selections, while the 10 women’s soccer schools were second with 85 and the nine volleyball programs were third with 47.

The complete listing of VMI honorees follows, while a full PDF of all student-athletes recognized by the SoCon is accessible to the left of this article.
