Dr. Ted Hemphill
Position: Basketball Team Physician/Orthopedic Surgeon
Dr. Edward (Ted) Hemphill received an A.B. in Chemistry from Dartmouth College and then went on to earn an M.S. in Applied Anatomy and Physiology from Boston University and his M.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.  He served for nine years in the U.S. Army Medical Corp.

Dr. Hemphill completed his internship at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, his OJT in Orthopedics at the 5th General Hospital in Bad Cannstatt, West Germany, his orthopedic surgery residency at Eisenhower Army Medical at Fort Gordon, Georgia and his fellowship in sports medicine at the Hughston Orthopedic Clinic in Columbus, Georgia.

Dr. Hemphill served as the Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at Winn Army Community Hospital at Fort Stewart, Georgia from July 1991 to September 1993 and as a civilian orthopedic surgeon there from September 1993 to June 1994.

Dr. Hemphill is nationally board certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.  He currently works in a solo practice in Lexington, Virginia and serves as a team physician for Washington and Lee University, Virginia Military Institute, Rockbridge County High School, and Parry McCluer High School.
