Dr. John is a native of Louisville, Kentucky , and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on a sports scholarship in swimming. He received his medical degree from the University of Louisville and did his orthopedic residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center. Dr. John’s primary interest is in the arthroscopic treatment of injuries of the shoulder, elbow, and knee. A national speaker on several orthopedic topics, Dr. John has also served as an instructor for the Orthopedic Learning Center.
He is a member of the Virginia Orthopedic Society, American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
Dr. John holds academic appointments as a Clinical Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Virginia and Assistant professor of Surgery at the Virginia Tech/Carilion School of Medicine.
