Water Polo Finishes Play at Claremont Convergence

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The VMI women’s water polo team split two matches Saturday at the Claremont Convergence, losing 12-6 to Loyola Marymount but bouncing back to defeat La Verne 16-10.

Loyola Marymount 12, VMI 6

Loyola Marymount opened a 7-1 lead in the first period but the Keydets played the Lions even from that point on.  McKenna Imset and Makenna Moore each scored twice and Genevieve Petrassi and Zoe Salafatinos also found the back of the net. Petrassi also had three steals.

VMI 16, La Verne 10

La Verne scored the first goal of the match, but VMI went on a 7-0 run and never looked back. Sarah Dolitsky had five goals and two assists and Moore had three goals and three assists. Petrassi and Imset each had three scores and Emma Noble and Emma Perez posted a goal and two assists apiece. Isabel French made eight saves in goal.

VMI (10-4) hosts the MAAC weekend next Saturday and Sunday.
