Water Polo Splits Matches at Claremont Convergence
CLAREMONT, Calif., - The VMI water polo team split two matches Friday at the Claremont Convergence behind seven goals from red-shirt freshman McKenna Imset.
Azusa Pacific 7, VMI 4
The game was tied at two late in the first after goals from Imset and Sarah Dolitsky, but Azusa Pacific went on a three-goal run to take control of the game. Azusa Pacific narrowly missed being ranked this week in the NCAA Division I Top 25 poll.
Imset finished with two goals and Dolitsky had a goal and an assist. Emma Noble also scored and Maddie Berry had one helper. Isabel French made 13 stops in net and had two steals.
VMI 13, Occidental 6
Imset led the way with five goals and an assist Friday evening against Occidental College. Noble had a goal and one assist and Dolitsky and Berry each scored twice. Makenna Moore had a goal with four assists, Kiara Anguiano had a goal and an assist while Zoe Salafatinos also scored. Emma Perez and Caroline Wojtas each had assists.
French made nine saves in net and handed out an assist and Bridget Hughes didn’t allow any goals and made three stops. Occidental is #9 in this week’s Division III rankings.
VMI (9-3) will play Loyola Marymount and La Verne on Saturday.
