VMI Scores 46 Goals in Two Wins at Macalester
ST. PAUL, MN – The VMI water polo team exploded for 47 goals Saturday in a pair of victories at the Macalester College Invitational and set two program records in the process. The Keydets broke the school record for the largest margin of victory in a 22-1 win over Carthage, and set the mark for most goals in a match in a 25-10 win over Monmouth.
VMI 22, Carthage 1
A total of nine Keydets scored in the Keydets victory over Carthage. Genevieve Petrassi had a team-high five goals with two assists, while McKenna Imset had four scores to go with a pair of assists. Makenna Moore scored three times with four assists and Kiara Anguiano, Zoe Salafatinos, Emma Noble and Emma Perez each had two goals. Sarah Dolitsky also scored and added two assists, Caroline Wojtas had four helpers and Maddie Berry scored.
Isabel French made 12 saves in net, and Bridget Hughes made four stops.
VMI 25, Monmouth 10
Imset tied her school record with seven goals against Monmouth. Dolitsky filled the stat column with six goals, two assists and three steals and Petrassi had four goals. Wojtas tallied two goals and two assists, Berry had two goals while Salafatinos and Noble each had a goal and an assist. Anguiano scored once, Perez handed out four assists and Moore had three helpers.
French made 13 stops and Hughes saved five shots.
VMI (6-2) finishes the Invitational Sunday with matches against the host school and Redlands.
