NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Looking to bounce back after two tough losses Saturday, the VMI water polo team responded with an 11-4 victory over Siena on Sunday afternoon at Hynes Pool in New Rochelle, New York.
The Keydets (11-7) jumped on the Saints early by gaining a 3-1 advantage in the first period following goals from Sophia DelBondio, Natalie Rivas and Sarah Dolitsky. VMI continued to dominate on the offensive end by putting in three more goals in the second period by Zoe Salafatinos, Rebecca Serrano and Dolitsky to go ahead, 6-2, at the half.
VMI would go on to add five goals in the second half and allow only two more from the Saints en route to the 11-4 win.
Shelby Barkley led the team in goals with three as all came in the second half. DelBondio, Dolitsky and Rivas finished with two apiece for the game.
Sophomore goalie Isabel French was credited with 14 saves throughout the match to keep the Saints at bay.
Per the annual tradition, the Keydets will spend their Spring Furlough this week out in California and will play five matches over five days as indicated below.
