ANNAPOLIS, Md. - John Kim broke the school record in the 100 back twice and helped the squad set a new record in the 200 medley relay, leading the VMI swimming and diving teams on day two of the ECAC Championships Saturday in Annapolis, Md.

After breaking the school record in the 100 back in prelims, Kim did so again in the finals of that event Saturday evening and finished 13th with his 51.73 time. He also recorded a 24.29 leg in the 200 medley relay as he, Bret Tomajczyk, JT Lancaster and Brady Gannon broke the school record with a 1:35.71 time. The foursome wound up 12th.

Other efforts Saturday included Jacob Smilie finishing 18th in the 100 back and setting a new freshman record in the process with a 52.13 time, while Niko Nemceff, Ryan Schmitz, David Turbyfill and Smilie posted a new freshman record in the 200 free relay, touching the wall in 1:26.39 during a time trial.

In the team standings, the Keydet men are 14th with 52 points, ahead of such schools as Saint Francis (Pa.) and Mount St. Mary's, while the VMI women are 15th with 18 markers, pacing Mount St. Mary's, Bryant and others.

VMI swimming and diving wraps up its season Sunday on the final day of the ECAC Championships, which gets underway at 9 a.m.
