SPARTANBURG, S.C. - After helping fuel his team to four straight wins last week, senior outfielder Matt Dunlevy has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Week, according to information released by the SoCon Monday afternoon. It is the first conference POTW honor of Dunlevy's career.
Dunlevy went 7-12 on the week with 14 total bases, including two home runs, and also walked four times for a startling .688 OBP. Dunlevy entered the year with a career-high of four homers in an entire season, but went deep in back to back contests to help VMI continue its best start since 2014 at 5-2.
He went 1 for 2 with three walks and three RBI, including a crucial two-run single late in the game Tuesday at Virginia, and then went 6 for 10 with two homers across three games against Lafayette in VMI's series sweep of the Leopards.
Dunlevy and the Keydets return to action Tuesday, when they travel to Virginia for a 3 p.m. contest.
