CULLOWHEE, N.C. - The Western Carolina Catamounts scored in the first six innings en route to a 19-3 win over the VMI Keydets, in the middle game of a three-game SoCon series that finished Saturday in Cullowhee, N.C. The game had begun Friday and was suspended in the second inning due to rain.

WCU (18-19, 9-5 SoCon) led when the game was suspended and pulled away immediately upon the resumption. The first five hitters reached in the second inning and the Catamounts scored five times to take a 6-0 lead. Three runs in the third and six in the fourth made it a 15-1 game, and although the Keydets (17-22, 4-10) scored twice in the seventh, WCU was never seriously threatened the rest of the way.

Matt Eagle (3-3), who was on the mound when the game was suspended and then came back for the resumption, took the loss as he gave up six runs in two innings-plus. Dillon Bray, who pitched six innings and allowed three runs with eight strikeouts, got the win to move to 2-3.

Offensively, Mason Adamson led the Keydets with a 2 for 3 day that included his second career home run. Jacob Jaye also added two hits. Matt Smith led WCU with a 3 for 4, seven RBI game that included two homers, while second baseman Nobu Suzuki went 5 for 5 with four runs driven in.
