DAVIDSON, N.C. – Hoping to snap a five-game skid, the VMI women’s soccer team travels to Davidson College tonight to face the Wildcats in VMI’s final non-conference road game at 7 p.m. in Davidson, North Carolina.
Kickoff will take place at Alumni Stadium and broadcast on ESPN+.
The Keydets (1-6, 0-0) are coming off a tough 1-0 loss to Howard this past Sunday as the Bison converted a penalty kick in the final moments to come out victorious.
VMI has four different goal scorers to this point of the season all coming from its 4-0 victory over Delaware State on Aug. 29. Whitney Edwards-Roberson, Maggie Beckman, Kiley Cropper and Maria Vargas were credited with those goals.
Edwards-Roberson leads the Keydets with 18 shots on the year with senior Julianne Knoblett close behind with 16. Vargas has taken nine shot attempts and Beckman has six on the year.
About the Wildcats (5-3, 0-0 Atlantic 10)
VMI will be Davidson’s final non-league contest and enter the match on a three-game string of victories, including a 3-0 win over UNCG on Sept. 12 and a 2-0 win over UNC Asheville this past Sunday. The Wildcats have also faced Western Carolina and Mercer of the Southern Conference earlier this season and came up short in both games.
Michele Manceaux leads Davidson with three goals on the year for six points while Cameron France, Sabine Chandler and Sophia Caruso each have two goals to this point of the season. Gretchen Pearson , Hailey Braemer, Kendall bushick and Seeley Yoo also have scored goals in 2019.
