CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Three goals in less than 14 minutes turned the game around and sent the VMI Keydets past the Chattanooga Mocs, 3-1, in SoCon women's soccer action Friday night in Chattanooga, Tenn.

UTC (3-8-2, 1-3 SoCon) had edged ahead 1-0 in the 51st minute on a goal by Jordan Mueller, but things turned around for VMI (5-8-1, 2-2-1) just over a minute later.

Julianne Knoblett scored off a rebound to tie the game, and in the 54th minute, Sam Franklin ripped home a shot from 30 yards out to give the Keydets the lead for good.

Sierra Brewer capped the scoring with a 66th minute goal as VMI goalkeeper Ceci Keppeler drilled a free kick from midfield that Brewer found and scored off of. Keppeler was credited with an assist, the first assist for a VMI goalkeeper since Oct. 18, 2008 (Heidi Beemer).

UTC did manage six shots over the final 24 minutes, but did not score again as VMI extended its undefeated streak over the Mocs to five straight matches.

"The second half tonight was one of the best halves of soccer we have played," said VMI head coach Chris Bergmann. "It was a very physical match and both teams battled, but I loved seeing our response when UTC took the lead and we continued to fight. I was very pleased that we struck to our game plan and we were able to finish our chances."

For the match, UTC held a 15-6 edge in shots and a 5-1 edge in corner kicks. Keppeler was credited with six saves, while UTC's Bailey Coppedge stopped two tries.

VMI women's soccer will return to action Sunday, when the Keydets take on Samford in Birmingham, Ala. The match is currently slated to start at 3 p.m. ET.
