SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The two teams combined for 40 shots, but neither could score as the Wofford Terriers and VMI Keydets played to a 0-0 tie in SoCon women's soccer action Sunday afternoon in Spartanburg, S.C.

Both teams had chances throughout the match, including in the opening moments, when Wofford (4-5-1, 0-1-1 SoCon) had a shot stopped by a VMI team save in the 13th minute. The Keydets (3-7-1, 0-1-1) had nine shots on goal, including two in the first 6:48, but Wofford keeper Mayson Liner was up to the task in keeping the scoreless tie intact.

The Terriers had the final chances, but a Catie Slater shot in the 109th minute bounced off the post and the VMI defense preserved the tie.

"Today's match was a quality team effort," said VMI head coach Chris Bergmann. "We had several chances and generated quality opportunies."

On the day, Wofford held a 25-15 edge in shots and 12-9 in shots on goal. The match was a physical battle, with 28 total fouls.

VMI women's soccer will return to action when the Keydets play host to Western Carolina Friday afternoon. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
