LEXINGTON, Va. - Swimming and diving's Briana Allard and basketball's Austin Kenon have been named the VMI Athletes of the Week, for the time period ending Jan. 18.

For the second time in three meets, Allard broke her own Institute record in both the one-meter and three-meter diving disciplines, competing during Saturday's losses to Liberty and Mount St. Mary's. The senior scored 200 points in the one-meter event and returned to notch a score of 215.25 at the three-meter height. Both marks currently rank 11th in the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA).

Kenon, who earned his second consecutive VMI Athlete of the Week honor, rebounded from one of the worst games of his career, a 1 for 11 Jan. 8 outing against Charleston Southern, in grand style. The senior led six Keydets in double figures during a 105-71 rout of Radford Thursday evening, then had a season-best 33-point output against High Point two nights later. Kenon's scoring helped VMI even its Big South record at 4-4, and move to a perfect 4-0 in conference away games this season.

VMI basketball will return to action Thursday, taking on Liberty in Lynchburg, Va. at 7 p.m., while swimming and diving will reenter the pool Jan. 28, taking on Davidson in a road matchup. That contest is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
