800 Free Relay's ECAC Cut Paces Keydets at CCSA's

ATHENS, Ga. - The men's 800 free relay posted an ECAC qualifying time, leading the efforts of VMI swimming and diving on the opening day of the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Championships, contested Wednesday in Athens, Ga.

The unit of David Turbyfill, Matt Johnson, Jacob Smilie and Michael Morrison touched the wall in 7:16.15 to finish eighth and add their names to the list of VMI's ECAC qualifiers.

Only two swimming events in each gender, the 200 medley and 800 free relays, were conducted Wednesday.

As a team, the VMI men are currently eighth with 88 points, six points behind Howard. UMBC leads the men's competition early on (187), while Incarnate Word (216) leads the women's competition and the Keydets are 10th (40).

The CCSA Championships resume Thursday with the morning session at 10 a.m.
