HARRISONBURG, Va. - Competing for the first time in over two months, the VMI women's swimming and diving team was in action Saturday afternoon in Harrisonburg, competing in a tri-meet against the James Madison Dukes and Marshall Thundering Herd. VMI (2-7) sent a limited number of swimmers and dropped both ends of the meet, losing 157-12 to both schools.
The Keydets put individual swimmers up in just two events, the 100 fly and 100 free, with a top finisher of Morgan Davis. Davis finished eighth in the 100 fly.
VMI did put four teams on the blocks in the 200 free relay, the top finishing of which was a sixth-place effort by McKenzie Raber, Natalie Rivas, Sophia DelBondio and Haley Scott. The foursome timed in at 1:43.76, with DelBondio's 25.57 leg being the fastest of the quartet, .24 seconds faster than school record holder Rivas.
VMI swimming and diving will return to action January 28, when the Keydets travel to Williamsburg to take on William & Mary. Action gets underway at noon.
