BOSTON - Looking for continual improvement week by week, freshman sprinter Eliza Brooks broke her own VMI school record to highlight the second day of competition at the ECAC Track and Field Championships Saturday in Boston, Massachusetts.
Brooks reset her 400m record broken last week at the SoCon Championships as she ran a 56.40 to be her time of 56.62 set last week.
Sophomore Ariana Ruffin also had a great performance in the 400m with a time of 57.80 seconds.
The men’s distance medley relay foursome of Gavin Jenkins, Rafael Mas, Adam Waite and Jahanzib Shahbaz also competed Saturday and ran a time of 10:03.76, roughly 14 seconds faster than last week at the SoCon Championships.
Jenkins ran an unofficial split of 3:04.7, followed by Mas in 48.9 seconds, Wait in 1:56.8 and Shahbaz closing out in 4:13.3.
Sarah Leckman is scheduled to compete in the women’s shot put Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at the same time men’s athlete Blaine Ashton will compete in the triple jump to close competition at the ECAC Championships.
