PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The women's 4X100-meter relay won the ECAC final to continue its strong season and lead a group from the VMI track and field teams at the Penn Relays, which continued Friday in Philadelphia, Pa.
Teams from the 4X1 heats Thursday advanced to three groups of finals Friday, and the Keydets - Yaa Agyepong-Wiafe, Mia McClain, Kerisha Goode and Bria Anderson - broke the school record they had set just last week with a 46.41 clocking. They beat a field that included UConn and UMBC.
Agyepong-Wiafe also was in action in the 100 hurdles, where she posted her third-fastest time ever with a 14.07 clocking that was good for 18th place.
Other results included Lee Warren finishing 19th in the 110 hurdles (14.79) and the men's distance medley relay placing 15th in the college section. Josh Willard, Kevin Bishop, Jahanzib Shahbaz and Micah Ellington timed in at 10:08.25.
"Our relays have been good this year," said VMI head coach Darrin Webb. "We had to do some shuffling in the DMR, but had some guys step up and we ran a quality race. The women's 4X1 has been fantastic all year, and today was no exception. It was great to see them put that sort of race together on this stage."
The Penn Relays wrap up Saturday, when the women's 4X8 squad will be VMI's lone representative. Action gets underway at 7 a.m., with the 4X8 scheduled for 4:10 p.m.
