GREENVILLE, S.C. - Opening Southern Conference play on the road, the VMI men's soccer team fell to host Furman by a 4-0 score Tuesday night at Stone Soccer Stadium in Greenville, South Carolina.

The Keydets were outshot by the Paladins by a 29-4 margin as Furman came out of the shoot aggressively, scoring three goals on 15 shot attempts in the opening 45 minutes. VMI managed three shots in the second half, but Furman continued to press and added another goal in the 62nd minute on 14 second-half shot attempts.

Furman's Kevin Edelmann struck first at the 16:25 mark before Josiah Baker added another three minutes later. Drew Mostoller scored an additional goal a few minutes before the half and Edelmann would go on to add the second-half tally for the Paladins.

VMI senior Brienno Illari registered a shot attempt for the Keydets as well as freshmen Christopher McGhan, Benjamin Skibicki and William Duggan. The shot by Duggan required a save from Paladin keeper Jonathan Smith in the second half.
