CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Coming off a tough loss at the hands of Jacksonville at home over the weekend, the VMI lacrosse team faces a quick turnaround as the Keydets travel to No. 6 Virginia Tuesday night for a 7 p.m. tilt at Klöckner Stadium in Charlottesville.
Down 8-6 at the half, the Keydets (4-6, 0-5) struck first against the Dolphins in the third period but ran out of gas the rest of the second half as Jacksonville went on to win by a 19-9 tally at Drill Field No. 2.
Junior attack John Daniel to leads the VMI attack as he is tied for No. 7 in the NCAA for consecutive games with a goal. Daniel has 20 straight games with a goal and has logged 45 goals over this span dating back to March 3, 2018. He scored three goals against Jacksonville on Saturday.
Ryan Perouty is ranked 25th in the NCAA for consecutive games with at least one point as he now has 23 straight games with a point tally (goal or assist). Since Feb. 17, 2018, the sophomore has logged 49 goals and 20 assists for 69 total points.
Senior team captain and defender Kyle Walsh continues to rank first in the nation in caused turnovers per game as he averages 3.44 per game. He has caused 36 turnovers over 10 games. John Schmank and Eric Lane are both tied for the No. 20 spot in this category as they average 2.0 caused turnovers per match.
