LEHIGH, Pa. - Logan Luckett finished just outside the top-300 overall, leading the VMI women's cross country team at the Paul Short Run, contested Saturday in Lehigh, Pa.
Luckett finished 312th overall among the over 1,000 competitors, who ran in three different races over the 6K course. The freshman clocked in at 22:22 and was 65th overall in the brown race.
Five other Keydets also posted personal best times, including Bethany King (23:00/137th), Kennedy Flynn (23:49/217th), Kelly Russell (24:21/277th) and Sadie Sandifer (24:24/284th).
The Keydets finished 33rd in the white race, ahead of teams including Niagara and Connecticut.
"13 of our 15 runners today posted PR's," said VMI head coach Dr. Drew Ludtke. "Our athletes on both sides have been showing up to practice and supporting each other through extremely challenging workouts. Our practices have been much better in recent weeks, so we hoped for - and got - good performances today. I am consistently impressed with the work and desire of the athletes in these programs."
Also in action for VMI Saturday were Christina Hill (25:15/330th), who became the sixth Keydet to post a PR on the afternoon, and Isabel Melendez (25:38/346th).
VMI cross country will return to action Oct. 14, when the Keydets take part in the HPU Vert XC Invitational in Kernersville, N.C.
