Events to Watch

Men's 800-Meters

Jahanzib Shahbaz posted the fastest time in the SoCon this year, a 1:52.78, and he will run in the first of four heats. Josh Willard, who was second in this event indoors, runs in heat two and will be in a tough draw, with Hayden Borghetti-Metz of ETSU and Joe Harbacevich of Wofford, two definite threats, running right alongside.

Women's 5,000-Meters

VMI's jack-of-all-trades, Bethany King, runs in her final conference championship this weekend - King is entered in the 1,500 and the 5K, her two best events, and this is her best opportunity to score points. She is seeded seventh overall in the event.

Women's High Jump

Another Keydet senior, Julia Logan, is entered in a crowded field here. Logan is one of eight athletes seeded at 1.58 meters or higher, with the top seed mark belonging to Selena Popp of Samford at 1.74 M (Logan is at 1.70).

Women's Long Jump

Can Bria Anderson put the ultimate bow on her VMI career? Anderson is entered in flight two of what could be the best event of the entire championship. She enters with a share of the SoCon lead in the event, following a 5.85 meter jump earlier this week, but four other athletes are within two inches of that effort.
