BOSTON, Mass. - Kerisha Goode blazed to the fourth-fastest time in the preliminary round, while Josh Willard ran the fastest 800 in the SoCon this year to lead VMI track and field at the IC4A/ECAC Championships, contested Saturday in Boston, Mass.
Goode ran a 24.31, just off her school record and her second-fastest time ever, to qualify to Sunday's final which will be run at 1:20 p.m. Willard, meanwhile, timed in at 1:52.61 to finish 16th in the 800 in a personal best time, but he did not reach the final.
Other Keydet action Saturday saw the men's distance medley relay post a seasonal best time of 10:08.72, as Micah Ellington (3:04.80), Desmond Weinberg-Jones (49.80), Jackson Betts (1:56.90) and Jahanzib Shahbaz (4:16.80) teamed up for the 10th-place effort.
Finally, Julia Logan finished eighth in the high jump (1.64 M/5'4 1/2").
"We had a good day today," said VMI head coach Darrin Webb. "Even though he didn't make the finals, Josh Willard running the fastest time in the SoCon this year is very notable. What a breakthrough season he's been having! We look forward to more exciting results tomorrow."
