REDLANDS, Calif. - On a busy day two of its trip to California, the VMI water polo team earned wins over Concordia Irvine and host University of Redlands Tuesday evening in Redlands, California.
The Keydets registered a 10-8 win over Concordia Irvine before claiming an 11-5 victory over Redlands.
In the win over Concordia, VMI was led by junior Shelby Barkley's four goals while Emma Noble pitched in two. Cecilya Lundy, Bailey Huddleston, Haley Scott and Natalie Rivas contributed the others. Freshman keeper Isabel French earned the personal victory having played the full 32 minutes and logged nine saves to preserve the win.
Against host Redlands, the Keydets were powered by Haley Scott's four goals while Barkley, Lundy and Sarah Dolitsky each scored two. Rivas also had one goal during the match.
French played three quarters to earn the win and had five saves and allowed three goals. She was replaced by junior Catie Berry at the start of the fourth quarter. Berry would go on to earn two saves and allow just two goals to secure the VMI win.
The Keydets resume play Wednesday afternoon with a 3 p.m. PDT match with Cal Baptist in Riverside, California. VMI concludes its annual west coast trip with a Thursday matchup with Occidental at 4 p.m. in Los Angeles.
